Sharkmatic President Howie Nestel often refers to himself in jest as the world’s poorest philanthropist.

At Sharkmatic, community engagement and non-profit work are key culture points.
In 1996, Howie founded Gotcha Covered, one of the longest-running and largest, annual collection drives for the less fortunate in San Antonio. Nearly a quarter-century later, Gotcha Covered is stronger than ever and facilitating the collection of hundreds of thousands of pounds of donations to Battered Women and Children’s Shelter, Haven for Hope, and The San Antonio Food Bank. The Sharkmatic team works with Howie every year to promote Gotcha Covered throughout South Texas.

Howie has served on more than 50 non-profit boards and board committees during his lifetime and currently donates his time to Visionworks Camps, Anne Frank Inspire Awards, Guardian House, and Camp Young Judaea. He is also The San Antonio College Advisory Council Chair.
